About the Opportunity:
A leading nonprofit organization in New York City is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to serve as Vice President
at one of their women’s shelters in Brooklyn. This site serves approximately 200 single adult women, many with mental health or substance use challenges, and requires a strong, hands-on leader who can balance compassion with structure.
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 35 hours/week
- Setting: Women’s Shelter (Single Adult)
- Assignment: 3-month temp-to-perm
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all daily operations and compliance for the Women’s Shelter
- Supervise Assistant Program Director, Case Manager Supervisors, and front-line staff
- Develop and implement effective systems to streamline communication and delegation
- Manage facility maintenance, security, and inspection readiness
- Partner with DHS, funders, and internal leadership on audits and reporting
- Ensure trauma-informed, de-escalation-focused responses to resident crises
- Uphold high standards for safety, documentation, and program outcomes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
- 3+ years of shelter or social service management experience
- Strong leadership, organization, and crisis-management skills
- Experience working with high-need or MICA populations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
