A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a strong and experienced leader to join one of its women’s shelters in Brooklyn as a Vice President.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Monday to Friday (flex as needed)
- Hours: 35 hours/week (on-call required)
- Setting: Women’s Shelter (DHS-funded)
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day shelter operations and long-term program strategy
- Ensure full compliance with DHS, OTDA, and safety regulations
- Supervise Assistant Program Director, Case Manager Supervisors, and staff
- Lead crisis management, de-escalation, and incident response
- Manage facility operations, maintenance, and security
- Monitor program performance, housing outcomes, and reporting
- Develop systems to improve workflow, delegation, and accountability
- Represent the program in meetings with leadership, funders, and community partners
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance management of staff
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a Shelter and/or Social Services setting
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Strong knowledge of DHS operations and housing placement
- Experience working with high-need or MICA populations
- Proven leadership, communication, and crisis management skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
