A technology services organization is seeking a Test Lead in Chicago, Illinois to guide automation testing efforts for a consumer-facing connectivity platform. This hybrid role focuses on test strategy, Selenium-based automation, API validation, and cross-functional collaboration to help ensure high software quality.

About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day shift
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: Standard business
- Setting: Hybrid (2 days onsite per week)
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day QA and test activities for automation projects across UI and backend services.
- Develop and maintain automated test suites using Selenium WebDriver and API testing tools.
- Define test strategies, automation frameworks, and execution plans aligned with project goals.
- Collaborate with development and product teams to define test scenarios and support early validation.
- Track test progress, manage defects, report quality metrics, and mentor junior testers in automation best practices.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Software Testing with a focus on Automation
- Strong proficiency in Selenium WebDriver, Java or Python, and API test tools such as Postman or RestAssured
- Experience testing RESTful data services and APIs
- Ability to create automation frameworks from scratch or enhance existing ones
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools, version control systems, defect tracking tools, agile methodology, Java and .NET web applications, SOA test automation, and test metrics or release management processes
Desired Skills:
- Experience with additional automation and quality tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, JIRA, ReadyAPI, UFT, AccelQ, SeeTest, Dynatrace, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of test automation across web, mobile, desktop, backend APIs, databases, MQ, cloud technologies, or related environments
- Background supporting performance testing and system integration coverage
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
