A Fortune 50 financial services company is seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer to join their team in the McLean, Virginia area.
Responsibilities:
- Compile information requirements, objectives, functions, and features to create clear, structured documentation.
- Gather and prepare written content by working closely with technical teams.
- Apply information architecture best practices to improve content organization.
- Interview analysts, engineers, and SMEs to capture workflows and technical processes.
- Research, analyze, develop, and maintain documentation such as user guides, API docs, system/data flow diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Plan, design, and implement technical controls, procedures, and policies related to compliance, risk, and governance.
- Maintain strong knowledge of platform capabilities, standards, frameworks, and operating environments.
- Translate complex technical processes and requirements into user-friendly language.
- Edit and proofread documents for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and style.
- Apply understanding of SDLC, COBIT, ITIL, and similar methodologies to produce high-quality documentation.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing, documentation development, or similar technical communication roles.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into simple, accessible language.
- Familiarity with technical documentation tools, platforms, and content management systems.
- Experience with information architecture and content structuring.
- Advanced editing and proofreading skills.
- Strong technical acumen in software development processes, data analytics practices, and technical methodologies (SDLC, COBIT, ITIL).
