Senior Risk Technical Writer
A Top Fortune 50 Financial Services Company is seeking a highly motivated Senior Risk Technical Writer to work hybrid for our client in Vienna, VA.
Overview:
- Compile, research, and analyze risk-related data to support decision-making across IT Risk and ISD functions.
- Partner with SMEs to gather and document business processes, functional requirements, workflows, and system controls.
- Develop and maintain high-quality documentation including: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manuals, Functional and business requirements, Risk control frameworks, Reporting procedures and templates.
- Create and maintain risk reporting frameworks; evaluate findings and prepare actionable insights and recommendations.
- Support IT Risk functions such as:
- Internal and external audit response
- Control testing documentation
- Vulnerability management reporting
- Issue tracking and resolution documentation
- Ensure that documentation aligns with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and risk management frameworks.
- Serve as a documentation and training specialist for diverse IT Risk teams, ensuring clarity, usability, and consistency in content delivery.
- Apply broad and in-depth knowledge of risk principles, business analysis, and documentation practices to high-impact, cross-functional projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members on best practices for documentation and risk reporting.
- Participate in or lead project efforts that require the coordination of technical and business resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in business analysis, IT risk, documentation, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of IT risk domains including audit, compliance, vulnerability management, control testing, and issue management.
- Proven ability to gather and translate complex business or technical requirements into clear, actionable documentation.
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Confluence, JIRA, Visio, or other process mapping/documentation platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams and acting as a liaison between business and technical teams.
