A rapidly expanding electrical engineering company in Sterling, VA seeks a SCADA Controls Engineer to join their team. The role involves supporting the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and integration of mission-critical control systems across various environments.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing system installation, checkout, integration, testing, and commissioning
- Configuring PLC programs for HVAC machinery and process control
- Troubleshooting PLCs, sensors, actuators, HMIs, and communication devices
- Performing field testing, validation, and flashing of IPCs, PLCs, and related hardware
- Writing, modifying, and testing control system software (C++, Java, Python, Expression Language)
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of engineering, construction, technical project, or equivalent military experience
- Proficiency in C++, Java, Python, and Expression Language
- Experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems
- Hands-on experience with SQL database creation and maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and control diagrams
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment (multimeters, signal generators)
Desired Skills:
- 1+ years of programming experience with Niagara or Inductive Automation Ignition
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer/Information Science
- Experience in mission-critical environments
- Working knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA, SNMP)
- Familiarity with systems such as Rockwell FactoryTalk, Tridium, Schneider PowerLogic, Siemens Apogee, Eaton Networks, JACE controllers
- Experience in mission-critical environments
