A New York City-based nonprofit organization is looking to add a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to its Support and Treatment Program (PSTP) in Manhattan.
About the Opportunity:
- Assignment Length: 3+ months
- Schedule: 5 days a week (35 hours a week)
- Hours: 28 hours total per week
- Setting: Support and Treatment Program (PSTP)
Responsibilities:
- Participate in weekly clinical meetings with medical staff, shelter case management, & administrative staff
- Perform intakes on all new clients assigned to the program for referral and to connect to care at primary care sites, mental health, & psychiatry services
- Assist with prior authorization for medications or medical supplies
- Assisting with medication refills and attaining new prescriptions
- Monitoring client reactions for side effects and reporting to the prescribing provider
- Maintain records of controlled substances using controlled substance logs
- Administering medications, injections, and treatments as ordered by medical providers
- Ordering stock medications, immunizations, and other medical supplies as needed
- Provide nursing screenings and documentation using nursing templates
- Perform ordered procedures including, but not limited to, EKG’s, Hearing and Vision tests, Blood Glucose, specimen collection and processing etc.
- Maintain emergency equipment, AED, oxygen tanks, and other clinical equipment
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a Psychiatric/Mental Health setting
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
- Comfort with electronic medical record documentation
- Excellent oral and listening skills
- Ability to work independently and autonomously
- Ability to interface with clients and staff
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Knowledge of eClinicalWorks Electronic Medical Record system
- Experience working with Homeless individuals
