A nonprofit services organization is seeking a Purchasing Specialist in New York City. This hybrid role supports purchasing operations by processing requisitions, coordinating documentation, and ensuring purchase orders are completed accurately and efficiently.

About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day shift
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm
- Setting: Hybrid (Tuesday to Thursday onsite)
Responsibilities:
- Process purchase requisitions and convert approved requisitions into purchase orders
- Review requisition details for accuracy, including account coding, vendor information, attachments, and approvals
- Check scanned documentation from sites and programs for proper coding, quantities, unit amounts, and required quotes
- Release purchase orders to vendors and follow up on missing or incomplete paperwork
- Support related purchasing and administrative tracking, including receiving transactions and vendor documentation routed to Accounts Payable
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of relevant work experience
- High School Diploma / GED
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to manage transactional work with accuracy and follow-through
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes
Desired Skills:
- Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience in processing purchase requisitions or purchase orders
- Familiarity with the Lawson accounting system
- Prior coordination experience in a purchasing or administrative support environment
