An established healthcare organization is seeking a Medical Assistant in New York City, NY to support a busy primary care setting with both clinical and administrative patient care functions. This role is ideal for a certified MA who is comfortable working in an ambulatory environment and handling a mix of direct patient support, specimen collection, and care coordination tasks.

 About the Opportunity:
  • Shift: Day shift
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday
  • Hours: 9:00am-5:00pm, rotating to 11:00am-7:00pm every 3 weeks
  • Setting: Onsite, Medical Office
Responsibilities:
  • Support providers during patient visits by obtaining vital signs and documenting results in the electronic medical record
  • Perform phlebotomy, collect and process specimens, and complete point-of-care testing and quality control procedures
  • Assist with EKGs, patient screenings, room preparation, and procedural support as needed
  • Handle clinical and administrative follow-up tasks such as prescription requests, prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, and record updates
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, equipment logs, and other daily clinic operations in coordination with the care team
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in a Medical Assistant (MA) in an Ambulatory and/or Primary Care setting
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Medical Assistant certification from an approved school
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience with vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort learning new electronic medical record systems
Desired Skills:
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Experience supporting HIV, LGBT+, or other diverse adult patient populations
  • Background in Behavioral Health or Psychiatric Care
  • Familiarity with an ambulatory practice workflow
