A healthcare network in New York City is actively seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their Outpatient team in Manhattan and work with the Pediatric population.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9:30am to 5:30pm (11am to 7pm on Wednesdays)
- Department: Outpatient
Responsibilities:
- Screen (walk-in/telephone and schedule appointments) patients and make the appropriate referral for services required
- Perform venipuncture for tests and prepare charts for sessions
- Document all clinical transactions with patient on their chart
- Assist the medical staff with treatment and diagnostic procedures (e.g., urine catherterization, fixes slides for pap smears, hand instruments to physicians)
- Perform EKGs and venipuncture on adults and pediatric patients
- Monitor equipment and supplies for clinic session, assuring adequate quantities are available; reports shortages to Nursing Manager/Charge Nurse
- Arrange laboratory tests, special clinic appointments (Cardiac, GI, etc.) according to physicians' orders
- Answer patient questions and give instructions on tests and procedures that are to be performed
- Perform patient care follow-ups (e.g. checking on broken appointments, confirming appointments or tests by telephone)
- Handle other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of Nursing experience
- NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- BLS certification
- Experience in an Outpatient role/setting
- Previous experience with the Pediatric population
- Experience doing Intakes, administering Vaccines, Clinical support for MD, Patient Care
