Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.
Internship Overview:
This 11-week Summer Internship Program  is an immersive experience tailored for highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students who are passionate about science, medicine, and the potential to make a real-world impact. Interns will engage in meaningful, hands-on work and contribute to projects that reflect the complexity and excitement of the biopharmaceutical industry.
Over the course of this engagement, interns will have exposure to a variety of departments, walking away with not only a strong understanding of their unique role, but also an understanding of the drug lifecycle as it enters the market, and various career pathways within the industry. The program offers a wonderful opportunity for students to interface with Executive Leadership and Key Stakeholders directly.
The Medical Operations Intern will support projects within the Medical Operations team , gaining hands-on experience in how medical teams plan, document, and improve the way they work. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with team members across the organization, learn how processes are developed and documented, and support planning activities for national medical meetings, providing valuable exposure to the real world.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the end-to-end development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), written instructions that explain how processes are completed, including:
  • Assisting the Medical Operations Director with drafting or updating an SOP
  • Supporting review, approval, and training activities
  • Organizing related materials, timelines, and feedback
  • Support planning for a national medical meeting, which bring together internal teams and external experts to share scientific and medical information, including:
  • Assisting with research and evaluation of potential meeting locations
  • Supporting the preparation of meeting agendas and planning materials
  • Helping with other meeting-related coordination and logistics as needed
  • Supporting the end-to-end development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), written instructions that explain how processes are completed, including:
  • Assisting the Medical Operations Director with drafting or updating an SOP
  • Supporting review, approval, and training activities
  • Organizing related materials, timelines, and feedback
  • Performing other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration / Management, and/or Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or related field)
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and work in a structured, regulated environment
  • Professional attitude, curiosity, and eagerness to learn
Desired Qualifications:
  • 2027 Graduate (Senior Level Candidate)
  • Working knowledge of Viva Quality
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint
  • Communications or Technical Writing (with interest in healthcare/pharma)
