A nonprofit services organization in New York City is currently seeking an experienced professional to join their team in Brooklyn as their new Director of Social Services for a women’s shelter.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm (35-hour per week; 1-hour unpaid lunch)
- Setting: Shelter
- Resident Population: Adult Women
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all case management services and staff
- Ensure compliance with DHS standards and program requirements
- Monitor client progress, housing placements, and documentation
- Supervise team performance and conduct regular reviews
- Respond to crises and support high-risk cases
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of relevant work experience
- High School Diploma / GED
- Supervisory experience in Shelters and/or Social Services
- Strong knowledge of DHS Processes and Housing Placements
- Microsoft Office proficient
- Solid assessment and documentation skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling/Guidance, or Art Therapy
- Relevant license required if holding a clinical Master’s (LMSW/LCSW/LMHC)
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Bilingual
