A Fortune 50 financial services company is seeking a highly motivated Data Governance Analyst to join their team in the McLean, Virginia area.
***This is a Hybrid opportunity requiring the qualified professional to work onsite at least 3 days a week.***
Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of Enterprise Data Governance Services plans, with a focus on secure and permanent data deletion
- Develop, implement, and align data deletion controls and processes with established governance frameworks
- Guide technical Product Owners and Engineering teams through data deletion intake, requirements gathering, and implementation
- Ensure adherence to data retention and deletion policies, identifying and mitigating risks related to improper data handling
- Establish and maintain data deletion controls and governance processes to support evolving organizational and regulatory needs
- Provide oversight and support for compliance reviews, audits, and approval workflows related to data deletion activities
- Deliver training and guidance to stakeholders involved in approving, executing, and auditing data deletion processes
- Design and track metrics and reporting to measure the effectiveness of data governance controls and identify areas for improvement
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in data governance, data management, compliance, or related fields
- Strong understanding of Data Governance frameworks, Data Lifecycle management, and Data Retention/Deletion concepts
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify risks, and support process improvements
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders and technical teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Data Deletion, Retention policies, or Privacy-related initiatives
- Familiarity with Regulatory & Compliance frameworks (e.g., data privacy, risk, audit)
- Experience developing metrics, dashboards, and reporting for Governance or Risk programs
- Background in Financial Services or Regulated environments.
