A nonprofit services organization in New York City is seeking a Client Services Specialist to join their team. This role provides front desk, intake, and client support in a confidential residential setting while helping maintain a safe and orderly environment.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day shift, evening shift, or overnight shift
- Schedule: Per diem; Monday through Sunday
- Hours: 7:00am-3:00pm, 8:00am-4:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm, 4:00pm-12:00am, 11:00pm-7:00am, or 12:00am-8:00am
- Setting: In-person shelter setting
Responsibilities:
- Provide front desk coverage and support daily shelter operations in coordination with permanent staff.
- Answer phones, greet visitors, conduct facility checks, and respond to resident requests.
- Support emergency shelter intakes, assess immediate safety needs, and assist with risk management planning.
- Provide crisis intervention, mediation, and de-escalation support as needed.
- Complete activity logs, shift notes, case management documentation, and other administrative tasks accurately and on time.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work with a computer and phone.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs without restrictions.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in a shelter, residential, or human services setting.
- Trauma-informed, client-centered, and non-judgmental communication skills.
- Experience supporting clients in crisis.
- Familiarity with case management systems or activity log documentation.
- Experience with front desk or customer service responsibilities.
