A community services organization in New York City is seeking a new Certified Wound Care Nurse (RN) to join their staff at their inpatient forensic psychiatric facility.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Part-time
- Hours: 7am to :30pm
- Setting: Inpatient Forensic Mental Health
Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate patient wounds to determine the appropriate course of treatment
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans
- Clean and dress wounds, ensuring sterile techniques are followed
- Monitor and document patient progress, updating treatment plans as necessary
- Educate patients on wound care best practices and infection prevention
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians and other healthcare professionals, to optimize patient care
- Perform debridement and other wound care procedures as required
- Conduct regular follow-up appointments to monitor healing and make necessary adjustments to care plans
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in Wound Care Nursing or a related field
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Active NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certified Wound Care Nurse ( CWCN ) or equivalent certification
- BLS certification
- Advanced knowledge of Wound Care treatments and technologies
- Knowledge of current wound care research and protocols
- Leadership skills for training and mentoring staff
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Behavioral Health setting
