A nonprofit organization in New York City is seeking an Assistant Program Director for their adult women’s shelter in Brooklyn.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: Standard business (35 hours/week)
- Setting: Shelter
Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day shelter operations and ensure program compliance
- Supervise staff and assist with scheduling, performance management, and training
- Handle crisis situations and support de-escalation efforts
- Review reports, monitor data, and ensure quality of services
- Step in for the VP as needed to maintain site operations
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in Shelter Operations and/or Social Services
- Bachelor's Degree
- Crisis Management skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Experience with DHS settings and high-need populations
